(Neochmia phaeton)
The Crimson Finch is found in northern Australia. They commonly inhabit moist savannah and subtropical/tropical moist shrubland.
The females differ from the males in that they have brown flanks, breast and thighs, while the males are bright red in these areas.
Crimson Finches feed mainly on seeds of grasses. They will however also eat insects and larvae.
